Eko Boys High School Old Boys Association

August 24th, 2010 (The Transformation of EBHS Trust)

I have been following the sequence of the School programme designed by the highly respected Old Boys Association.
However, I will like to suggest to my Alma matter of EBHS that strategies which might be considered.

(1.) As EBHS is looking forward to become a trust institution. There are Education funding trusts who are more committed to the progress of education, these are:
(a) British Nigeria Education Trust
(b) British National Council
(c) Education Trust Fund of Nigeria
(d) Wellcome Trust

The old boys Association endeavour to contact the above trust organisation as soon as possible as this might be a great help in order to achieve our meaningful objectives.

(2.) Building a chaplain within the school campus.
It will be a very good idea in terms of worshipping within the campus and bring all the present and past students under one umbrella and it will also serve as school anniversaries every year as it was successfully done in other respected schools such as C.M.S Grammar School, St. Gregory College, Loyola College Igbobi College. Maryland Comp. Sec. School, Ijebu Ode Grammar School, Reagan memorial Girls Grammar School etc…

(3.) Restoration of Boarding Schools with modern facilities.

(4.) Resources centre such as library canteen or restaurant for the staff and student.

(5.) Establishment of career development and Guardian counselling office. Whereby students can be advised about the importance of education to further their education career to higher institution of learning.

(6.) Building of Auditorium Hall within the school campus
Meeting will be held in this new great hall like parent teachers Associations, special events and both for internal and external exams can be taken there.

The other important thing is that an area in the hall where in the pictures of photographs of old boys who have achieved a lot in life should be hanged on the wall and this will be an inspiration and morale to the students of EBHS – people like Dr. Olusola Saraki, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, Former Military Governor Adeyinka Adebayo, The present Governor of Lagos State Mr. Raji Fashola, Mr. Idowu Sofola (SAN), Late Oba Oyekan (Former King of Lagos), Professors, academicians. This type of method was used by Bedford Grammar School and Cheltham Ladies College in England which is a very successful strategy for the schools.

Many thanks
