Eko Boys’ High School Marks 113th Founders’ Day with Thanksgiving, Alumni Recognition, and Renewed Commitment to Academic Excellence

Eko Boys’ High School (EBHS), Mushin, Lagos, marked its 113th Founders’ Day on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, with a solemn thanksgiving service held in gratitude to God for His faithfulness, protection, and guidance since the establishment of the school. For the second consecutive year, the thanksgiving service took place at the Reverend W. B. Euba Memorial Hall on the EBHS Mushin campus.

The thanksgiving service was conducted by ministers of the Methodist Church, Palm Avenue Circuit, Mushin, led by the Very Rev. Major Philips Adeoye, Presbyter of the church, alongside other ministers and the church choir, whose ministrations added spiritual depth and reverence to the occasion.

The service commenced with opening prayers and scripture readings, including passages from Isaiah Chapter 42 and the Gospel according to St. Matthew Chapter 3, setting a reflective tone for the celebration.

Speakers paid glowing tribute to the enduring legacy of Reverend W. B. Euba, founder of the institution, while also commending the Eko Boys’ High School Old Boys’ Association (EKOBA) Board of Trustees and the EKOBA International Executive (2024–2026) for their sustained commitment to the development of the school. It was noted that EBHS continues to record steady progress, with modern facilities now comparable to those of leading secondary schools.

A major highlight of the celebration was the recognition of EKOBA service clubs celebrating milestone anniversaries: E61 (60 years – Diamond Jubilee), E76 (50 years), E86 (40 years), E96 (30 years), and EOCC (20 years). Of special significance was the E615 Service Club, celebrating its Diamond Jubilee, under the leadership of Ekorian Musi Braimoh. The club was specially commended for its exceptional and unparalleled support to EBHS and EKOBA, having donated over ₦25 million in cash within six months in 2025 toward infrastructural and developmental projects. Their commitment was described as a challenge and inspiration to younger alumni.

The event also witnessed a strong presence of Ekorians from the diaspora, led by Professor Jide Okunubi, President of EKOBA North America, and Prophet Eric Olorunsola, who returned to Nigeria for the celebration after 50 years abroad.

Royal presence added prestige to the occasion, with His Royal Majesty, Ekorian Oba (Dr.) Olukunmi Olusesan Akingbola, the Olu of Oregun, Lagos, in attendance. Also present were all EKOBA service club presidents, notable alumni captains of industry, and distinguished Ekorians.

In a call to action, speakers urged current students of EBHS to become worthy ambassadors of the school, emphasizing discipline, academic excellence, and the importance of drawing inspiration from the achievements of past students.

Delivering his final anniversary address as EKOBA National President, Ekorian Kayode Elliot, expressed gratitude to alumni and stakeholders for their unwavering support. He highlighted major projects completed during his administration, including the Reverend W. B. Euba Memorial Hall, the Lawrence Gate, and several other infrastructure upgrades. He emphasized the need for continued support, leadership continuity, and a renewed focus on advancing academic excellence as the next phase of development for the school.

The Vice President II of EKOBA, Engr. Tito Ganiyu Nurudeen, offered heartfelt appreciation for the outgoing president’s transformative leadership that revitalized the school over the past four years and set a strong foundation for academic improvement in the years ahead.

The 113th Founders’ Day celebration once again reaffirmed the enduring bond between Eko Boys’ High School and its alumni, underscoring a collective commitment to preserving the school’s legacy while building a stronger future.
